Virtual tour

Compile a list of as many places as you can which allow you to take a virtual tour.

Mansion
Virtual tour: http://www.woodlandsmansion.com/vt.html

Parliament NZ
Virtual tour: Parliament NZ Tour

London Tour
Virtual tour: London Tour

National Museum
Virtual tour: National Museum Tour

Oxford
Virtual tour: Oxford tour

A Virtual tour is a great way to learn online without moving. You can learn lots by a virtual tour. On a virtual tour you buy a ticket online and someone talks and you move your mouse over where you want to look at. A weakness is that you would get lazy and the tour might be outdated. A strength is that the tour might be cheaper that a normal tour because an actual tour is\would be more expensive. I have looked at the mansion tour, the tour of Oxford and more. If you would like to look at some virtual tour click the links above. One of the best virtual tours that I liked was the Oxford one because you can see how big the school is and how many student attend Oxford. The bad thing is that you can't go into and look inside the buildings.

TGC Visit

Today we went to Tauranga Girls College and we looked around the school. We got a pack where it tells us how much everything is. They showed us around the school  and we had to fill out a time capsule that we would see when we have finished Tauranga girls college in 2020. I like how TGC have a ton of choices and academic things that you can do. Also you stay with your tutor class for the hole 5 years in College which is pretty cool. At TGC there was a rubbish bin that was stuck into the ground. They also have their own pool and you can go into it in term 1 and term 4 in the summer time when it is hot, they heat to pool up to make it a little bit walmer.

Advice for years 7's Next Year

When you first start tauranga intermediate it is thrilling and exciting or you can be very nervous, there will probably someone in your class that you will know from you old school or something. Be sure that you be nice to everyone so you can make lots of new and lasting friendships. For the girls I suggest that you wear you P.E shorts on underneath you skirt. Be sure no the do anything that you are not allowed to do while in class time. If you do my ramsley will check you computer and you will get into a lot of trouble. Don't run to the canteen without a teacher because mr Diver might tell you off. Intermediate are some of you best schooling years. Make the most of everything and try your best. Make sure that you only use the Rimu toilets.

Life Ed

In Life Ed Michael told us all about drugs and alcohol and that there were 7 steps of the ladder, and that you should wait till you get to the 7th stage of the ladder until you make your decision on weather or not to use drugs. Drugs can affect you a lot like, family violence, jail, not be able to travel, and the worst being dead. There are many types of drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, wine, ecstasy, sprites, beer and tons more. There are about 3-5% alcohol, in beer, 12-15% alcohol in wine and 35-40% alcohol in sprites. It takes 1 hour for the body to consume a cup or glass of alcohol. Teenagers get drunk more easier\quicker because they have a faster absorption rate and that is when they do silly and stupid things.

We learnt that when\ before you go out to drink you should always have food before so that the process of digestion the alcohol can take a little longer. Class A drugs in New Zealand are: Methamphetamine, Magic Mushrooms, Cocaine, Heroin and LSD. If someone is caught with any of these drugs they can face up to 6 months in jail or if you are the supplier of the drug then you can face life in jail. Kids can start taking drugs at the age of 13 and do it for the rest of there life. Once you start it is really hard to quit but talking drugs can ruin your life make you go bankrupt and steal from family members. Taking drugs can make you look 20 years older then you already are and you also can get scabs on your face and make you ugly.

Web of Addiction Poem

Walking up the ladder year after year, waiting to make that big decision coming up somewhere.

Watching others take the drug, choose your decision wisely and don't become a addic thug.

But one night at a party you take the pill that makes you ill and raises your bill, You look at your reflection in the mirror and think to yourself I have to be a quitter.

Day by day, night by night things are tough but get better in sight.

Finished?
Look for other online games which help with drug and health education. Put the links on this doc.

Magic Mushrooms

Research one illegal drug in depth.
Find out:
  • class
  • describe how the drug looks
  • how it is made
  • ways the drug is used
  • how it affects the user
  • streetnames
  • negative health effects it has on the user
  • dangers

Write a summary in paragraphs. No pictures.

Magic mushrooms is a class A drug, the drug looks like a normal mushroom with a long white stem and a brown pointed top. The magic mushroom is not a plant witch means that it is grown from a spore. To make magic mushrooms you need to fill the kit with water, let the water absorb, remove the water. Put the kit in the plastic bag and place it in a good spot. Then wait. harvest, dry and then start over if you want.

Fix Writing

"Morning class," greeted Miss Green. It was an ordinary day and everyone was sitting at their wooden desks, with pens and pencils by their side, the sweet sound of voices filling the room brought music to my ears. I decide to listen in on Britney's conversation with Ella, "OMG last night I reached into my bag to get out my book and it wasn’t there," explained Britney. "No way," replied Ella. That exact thing happened to me I was sure I put it into my bag this is a little strange, I thought to myself why are things disappearing?

Eventually the bell went and it was time to go home. I told my mum what I had witnessed at school. And she was lost for words. That night I couldn't get Brittney and Ellas conversation out of my head, I grabbed my laptop out of my bag to google this mystery as I unzipped the case, I looked down only to see that there was no laptop in my bag this is insane! I decided to look in my other pocket of my bag and to my surprise, my lunch box was also missing.

The sun was shining birds singing, it seemed like an ordinary day. I walked into my class that is usually full of colour but not today. My class looked like a prison cell, "what happened I gasped?" "Don't worry kids assured Miss Green, we have a thief in our class and I am going to get to the bottom of this one by one." Miss Green started checking our bags, everyone seemed relaxed except for James, Miss Green made her way down the line and james was last to be checked. "Oh!" said Miss Green looking rather lost, "what is this she asked James?" as she pulled out two books, a pencil case my laptop, and two class posters from James bag.

I was utterly shocked to say the least, "I am so sorry," cried Iames, "its just that everyone has laptops or books and our class is so colourful, that I wanted to take some of it home to make my house look better," " the truth is that you should be happy with what you have and not want stuff from other people."
